who we are
University Christian Church is affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) denomination, a mainline protestant denomination that values unity in diversity, ecumenical ministries, and a passion for peace and justice. University Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is congregationally governed. We celebrate the Lord's Supper weekly in our worship service and have no creedal requirements for membership. At University Christian, all are welcome who desire to follow Christ.
We have a diverse membership and seek to minister to and with Christians of all ages, ethnic backgrounds and sexual orientations. Along with being an open and affirming congregation, we work closely with our sister churches within the University District, sharing worship, outreach and educational opportunities. We are a member of Churches Uniting in Christ (CUIC), an ecumenical representation of the wider body of Christ which includes nine Protestant denominations committed to working and worshiping together as a visible sign of God's unity within the church.
