About Us:
University Christian Church Vision for an Ecumenical Future,
Adopted April 24, 2005
We believe that God calls University Christian Church to minister to the people of the University District and the larger community, and to join with other denominational traditions in an ecumenical model for faithful living and a passion for justice.
We believe that the Church of Jesus Christ is one, and that we are called to make that unity more visible in this time and place.
We believe that as people of faith we must find new ways to proclaim the Good News and to be Church in the 21st century.
We recognize the yearnings for shared communion and movement towards shared ministry among our sister University District congregations.
We commit ourselves to exploring common ministries, joint programming, closer community, shared worship, and possible union with other University District congregations.
In the next year, we commit ourselves to participating and providing leadership in the formation of a University District ecumenical parish, to include:
Shared worship, education, spiritual growth, and fellowship activities – exploring ways to minister more effectively to members of our congregations by acting together; making manifest the essential unity of the Church through shared public worship.
